“Blooms Taxonomy & Mapping of Course Outcome”
The IQAC has organized Workshop on Blooms Taxonomy for teaching faculty as part of quality initiative in evaluation process on 23.10.2021 at Lecture Hall 1 between 2.00 pm and 3.30 pm. Dr. R. Balasundaram, Professor of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker. Dr. N. Malmurugan, Dean Engineering and Technology has delivered the importance of cognitive domain, which includes lower order to higher ordered skills based on their Knowledge, Attitude and Skills during the teaching, learning and evaluation process. The blooms taxonomy pyramid was highlighted by the resource person about preparing the question papers and evaluation of the answer scripts.
After the didactic lecture presentation, hands on training was given pertaining to question paper setting and how to map the course outcome in it. The faculty members were educated about various components of taxonomy such as remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate & create, and how these components should be considered while preparing the question paper. The resource person had pointed out the importance of course learning objectives and how it can be mapped in the process of setting question paper and scrutinizing the question paper. During the workshop the faculty members were asked to review their first internal assessment exam question paper by themselves and asked them to score the questions based on their attainment.
Finally the resource person concluded the need of mapping of course outcome with question paper setting and university expectations. During the question and answer session the faculty members revealed that the first internal assessment exam question paper was not up to the mark and now they were very much clear about framing of question paper. Dr.A.Sundhararajan, Coordinator, IQAC delivered the vote of thanks.
