The main difference between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy is that Occupational Therapist focuses on improving a client’s ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL) and Physiotherapy focuses on improving a client’s ability to perform movement of the human body.
Occupational Therapist
Occupational therapy is a rehabilitation and health profession whose goal is to enable individuals and groups to achieve optimal functioning in activities of daily living including self-care, productivity leisure, cultural and spiritual activities that have been affected by physical, psychological, cognitive or social problems.
Occupational Therapy uses a client-centred holistic approach through purposeful and meaningful activities to maintain, improve and/or establish individuals’ skill and ability to perform their role optimally and meaningfully in their social-cultural environment and finally to increase quality of life.
