WORLD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DAY AWARENESS RALLY- OCTOBER 27th 2021
College of Occupational Therapy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology organized Occupational Therapy awareness rally on 27th October in lieu of World Occupational Therapy day at Chathram bus stand. This Rally was held to increase the awareness about occupational therapy among general public, medical professional, patients and society. More than 200 students from SRMIST Tiruchirappalli campus participated with great enthusiasms in the Occupational Therapy awareness rally under the Guidance of Dr.R.Shivakumar, Chairman, SRM Trichy & Ramapuram Campus and Shri S.Niranjan president SRMIST.
Mr.S.Chandramohan, district differently abled welfare officer of Tiruchirappalli flagged of the rally and emphasised the importance of occupational Therapy in rehabilitation of patients with physical. Psychological, social, cognitive problems. He recorded that Occupational therapy help differently abled person to regain functional independence in all areas of their lives like personal care, social life and vocational aspect. Ms.Srutthi, district youth officer of Nehru yuva Kendra stressed that Occupational therapists help to overcome all barriers to achieve better quality of life especially among youth who suffer with stroke, head injury, parkinsonism, spinal cord injury cerebral palsy, mental retardation, Autism, mental illness like depression, schizophrenia, hysteria etc,. Dr.Balasubramanian.,Deputy director SRM Trihcy campus, Dr.N.Malmurugan, Dean, College engineering & technology, SRMIST, Tiruchirappalli campus felicitated and Dr.D.Suresh, Dean, College of Occupational Therapy delivered welcome address.
